The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has deployed two Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) C-130 transport aircraft to deliver humanitarian aid supplies to Myanmar. This is in response to the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the country and caused widespread damage and casualties.
Coordinated by the Changi Regional HADR Coordination Centre (Changi RHCC), the two RSAF C-130 aircraft transported more than 9 tonnes of essential relief supplies contributed by the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre).
Colonel Fredie Tan, Director of Changi RHCC, emphasised the importance of collaboration in humanitarian and disaster relief operations. He said, “Changi RHCC and the SAF remain committed to supporting regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations, to provide essential humanitarian assistance to the people of Myanmar. We will continue to work closely with intergovernmental organisations such as the AHA Centre to ensure coordinated and effective responses.”
This deployment underscores Singapore’s commitment to supporting regional disaster relief efforts.
